Spine Curvature Disorders

Spine curvature disorders occur when there are issues in the vertebrae of the spine or discs. There are three main types of curvature disorders with several causes that could lead to these disorders. The following is a list of the types of curvature disorders and the causes of these disorders as well is the treatment options available for the spine curvature disorders.

Common Types of Spine Curvature Disorders

There are three types of spine curvature disorders. The first is the Lordisis is this spine curvature disorder. This is also known as the swayback disorde. In this particular type of disorder the spine curves significantly toward the interior of the body. This curve begins at the lower back. The second type of spine curvature disorder is the Kyphosis disorder. This type of disorder occurs when there is an abnormal rounded upper back. An abnormal rounded upper back is considered to have more than 50° of curvature in the upper back area. The third type of spine curvature disorder is scoliosis. This particular type of spine curvature disorder is exhibited in an extreme sideways curve of the spine. This type of curve can take on an S or a C shape depending on the severity of this type of curvature disorder.

Treatment Options

Treatment options vary depending on the type of spine curvature disorder. The following is a list of treatment options for the Lordisis spine curvature disorder. The first type of treatment for this particular disorder is medication. Medication is given to relieve any pain or inflammation. Exercise and physical therapy, a back brace, weight loss and surgery are also common treatment plans for this particular type of spine disorder. Treatment options for Kyphosis disorder include exercise, physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medication, a back brace, surgery and special discount therapy following surgery. Treatment options for scoliosis include observation of the curve at earlier stages or when the curve may not be as pronounced. Slight curvatures may work themselves out or they may be, increasingly worse over time. Those therapy and chiropractic treatment may work for this particular type of disorder, braces and surgery are the most common ways of correcting this disorder.
