If you have ever looked up how to be healthy, reduce or prevent certain diseases, or to lose weight, you have heard of exercise and fitness. Getting regular exercise and fitness is an important part of your life as it helps you to get and stay healthy. If you’re active and follow a regular fitness regimen, you can live a longer, healthier life than someone who is sedentary. For exercise and fitness to be a part of your life, it can be just 20-30 minutes a day and doesn’t have to be rigorous exercise.
How Often to Get Exercise
You should aim for exercising about 30 minutes a day, at least 3-5 days per week. You may need more exercise and fitness depending on your goals, such as for training for a 5K or marathon, or trying to lose weight. You shouldn’t begin any exercise and fitness routine before consulting your doctor. They may have recommendations and based on your health or skill level, you might have some limitations. Exercise includes everything from stretching and yoga, to weight training and going for walks or runs. Other types of fitness and exercise include cleaning, gardening, mowing the lawn, dancing, bicycling, recreational activities, and sports.
Types of Exercise and Fitness
As mentioned previously, there are many different types of exercises you can do. While you can exercise at your local gym, this isn’t necessary. There are exercises you can easily do from home, either by purchasing gym equipment or doing daily activities. Things such as cleaning, pulling weeds, mowing the lawn, shopping, walking your dog, dancing, or playing physical video games. If you want more of a workout, you can get a treadmill, exercise bike, or elliptical trainer to be used at home. This is helpful when it is raining or snowing outside, or if you prefer exercising in the privacy of your own home.
Benefits of Exercise and Fitness
The benefits of getting proper fitness and exercise are endless. The first most obvious benefit is that it will help control your weight. Whether you want to maintain your weight or lose weight, regular exercise is going to be beneficial to you. Exercise and fitness will also help fight off a variety of diseases and medical conditions. Things like high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and any number of cardiovascular disease are prevented or improved with regular exercise. Diseases from being obese are also prevented such as diabetes. Exercising regularly also gives you a rush of endorphins which will help you feel happier and lift your mood naturally. You sleep better when getting regular exercise and physical fitness which improves your overall health even more.
